Steering Group Members

This page contains some infomation about the five members of the steering group.

John and Rosie - Group Founders

John and Rosie live in Worcestershire with their son Alistair.  John works for a local shop fittings firm as a Senior Project Manager and Rosie is a Learning and Development Adviser for the local NHS Trusts. 

They started the Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group after their 8 year old daughter, Frances was diagnosed with a Medullablastoma in 2005.  When they looked for information and support they found that there was very little in the West Midlands area and so they decided to set up their own.
As Frances was first diagnosed with a benign tumour when she was 3 months old, they have had 10 years experience of dealing with brain tumour related issues and have contacts with many of the main brain tumour charities.
Their aim is to help improve the information and support available to all adults and children affected in anyway by brain tumours.



Jane Beale

Jane Beale –Steering Group Member

As a long time friend of John & Rosie Jane was happy to support them when asked to help in the formation of the group and its ongoing development.  A retired Civil Servant Jane has a wealth of management experience to bring to the Group.  As a Trustee for the Primrose Hospice she also has experience of working as a volunteer in a cancer related environment. 

Like most people she has close family members and friends who have been diagnosed with a range of cancers, and has lost a friend who had a brain tumour.

Caroline Edwards - Steering Group Member

Caroline has known John and Rosie for many years and was happy to support them develop and run the WBTSG.   She currently working for the NHS  as HR Manager - Medical but also has a wealth of previous experience working in a medical  recruitment environment.

Caroline’s father and  eldest sister  were both diagnosed with brain tumours which were successfully removed a number of years ago.

Sarah Gormley

Sarah Gormley-Steering Group Member

Sarah is a long term friend of Rosie and John, and was pleased to be part of the steering group and help Rosie to bring together her ideas and set up the group.
She has worked for a Charity for 10 years where part of her work has been with volunteers,  she also has experience of making applications for funding.
Several of her close family, have died of various cancers, and her nephew has a brain tumour.
